Michael Clifford opens up about mental health struggles
5 Seconds of Summer guitarist and producer discusses getting help and 'taking the first step'
Clifford revealed he had reached a breaking point after a show in 2018
Michael Clifford, guitarist and producer of 5 Seconds of Summer, has opened up about his struggles with mental health in a new interview with Galantis Christian Karlsson.
In the interview, Clifford reveals that he reached a breaking point after a show in 2018, and that he began to feel like he "wasn't in control of [his] own life."
"I felt like I was losing my mind," Clifford said. "I was having panic attacks, I was having anxiety, I was having depression."
Clifford said that he eventually sought help from a therapist, and that he began taking medication to help manage his symptoms.
"It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but it was also the best decision I've ever made," Clifford said. "I'm so grateful that I got help, and I'm so much better now."
Clifford's story is an important reminder that mental health is something that can affect anyone, and that it's important to seek help if you're struggling.
