Zach Arnett Fired as Mississippi State Head Coach
Former Analyst Now Seeking New Opportunities
Zach Arnett, the former head coach of Mississippi State University's football team, has been fired following less than one season at the helm. Arnett, who was promoted to the position in December 2022 after the tragic passing of Mike Leach, has been a figurehead in the Bulldogs' organization for many years.
Arnett, a Starkville native, played for Mississippi State from 2005 to 2008 and served as the team's defensive coordinator from 2018 to 2022. Despite his deep ties to the university and his strong record as defensive coordinator, the Bulldogs struggled under his leadership in 2023, finishing with a 3-9 record.
Mississippi State University has not yet announced a replacement for Arnett. The university is expected to conduct a nationwide search for a new head coach in the coming weeks.
